is there a way to add other programs to your skin? such as a video player?

By allowing more MIME types to be viewed (in the "Settings" tab, click on "Manage file and MIME types") you can load movies from Vibe Streamer's interface however, this will not play the video in Vibe Streamer's Flash player, as it is designed for only music files. Instead, it will launch a separate window and use the associated player in the browser to view the file (though your mileage may vary depending on your setup).

what do you mean by mileage?

mglukhovsky

lol, by mileage I mean what kind of results you get; whether it works out for you or not.

Also, only streamable formats will be streamed to your media player (for example WMV, RM etc).. non-streamable formats (for example MPEG) will need to be downloaded completely by the media player before it starts playing. Just a little note if someone ever thinks about streaming movie files that are large.

Good point, siit. However, I may be mistaken, but some media player plugins (i.e. Quicktime) do much of the same that Vibe Streamer does with MP3's... it plays them as they are being downloaded.

Can anyone verify?

For videos, I like using ORB (http//orb.com/), although their Music/MP3 support is less than stellar. That's why i looked into an alternative like Vibe Streamer which allows better playlist functionality. If only I could get search added, it would be near perfect for me.

the search function _is_ planned for a future version, most likely the next version, so you will have it sooner or later )

Awesome, that's good news. Between a SFTP, ORB, and Vibestreamer server, I can get everything I want, wherever I want. Thanks!

if I have a streamable vid player, is there a way toembed it into the skin?

Amish

nope, flash only plays .flv files. But without flash you can make an embed script to embed the movie.

Pope

what would that script be by chance? does any one know?

Amish

Basically if the mime is a wmv or somethign print out an EMBED code embeding the video file.

How do you address the media again?

got it http//192.168.0.18081/virtual/[VirtualDirName]/[Filename] roll

I added an avi extention with the mime type video/x-msvideo but it doesn't show up in the directory.

siit

You need to stop/start the server when you've changed the mime type.

Out of curiosity, anyone ever mess around with FLV encodes? How do they look? Watchable?

I have, they are pretty good quality. My broadcasting class has the latest Premier elements software. I was hoping to see a way to include flash video into my vibe streamer, so all of our announcements could be online. And not just our podcasts. Anyone get the .flv streaming? It could pop out into a new window?

BUT SOMEHOW , i cant get a descent script for firefox ,then i get a layer problem ? the only solution is When the player is active, right-click on it and select 'Options...'
* At the bottom of the window should be a 'Video Acceleration' option. Change it from full to half (or to zero, if needed) by moving the slider.

for this time IE is stable with this script

all i know from recourses from the internet that firefox has a bug with wmp embedded script ,looks like a ZINDEX failure to me! evil
