Is there a way to alter the way the streamer client page is built? Could I alter the fact that there is a left.html and a right.html? What page loads first?

yes, vibe streamer isn't much more different than a very very basic web server support a web scripting language.. the way the standard skin is design with left.html and right.html is just because it's the way I choose to design it when I started out.. check out the documentation on the website and make just the modifications you need.
