Has any thought been given to completely doing away with Flash? I'd really, really like to see a non-Flash version of Vibe Streamer. Flash is an absolute resource hog and is not supported on mobile devices.

How about using the new audio tag in HTML5? siit mentioned he didn't like coding for specific devices but I'm sure it's widely supported on new mobile devices.

Getting rid of flash and having something more plattform-independent would be great. I haven't looked into HTML5 anything really, so I don't know how well mobile platforms and browsers handle the video/audio tags.

All info and ideas are welcome

HTML 5 is supported in Android and I think in the iPhone. I know the browser Safari supports it as well as Chrome. I don't know about Firefox. If you want to test the support for HTML 5 video in a device you can go to http//www.youtube.com/html5. I am pretty sure if the device supports video it will support audio.

HTML5 Audio also works Firefox as of 3.5. It'll probably be 2044 by the time IE supports it though. roll

HTML5 is great however there are more people who's browsers don't support HTML5 than people who don't have the flash plugin installed.

Although you could make it HTML5 by default and display flash to those HTML5 isn't supported for.
