Add a button to the left of the standard Windows Minimize, Maximize and Close buttons that when clicked, will minimize to the System Tray. Rolling over it should show the tip "Minimize to Tray." Emule has something like this. Most users probably don't think to look under the Window menu for this option and having it next to the other window controls seems to make sense.

the red X on the right top doesn't close VS, it just hides/closes the window. VS will be still active. it's in your tray.
