How awesome would it be to provide support for PHP to create plugins!?
Users could be responsible for their own apache/php install and would need to create a virtual host to point to the plugin directory.
I plugin idea could be to integrate this with the Winamp media library using this method

I've tried it and it works well.
The file matching can be made my path\filename and playcounts, ratings, can all be retrieved. Even smart playlists can be created!
