to your work. -)

I was searching for a while for some SW that streams my music to the internet, found Slimserver, but this is a rather overloaded SW and dealing with players etc did not really satisfy me, and I cannot configure it to use port 80, what I need for listening my stream from work. (all ports except 80 and 443 blocked)
There are several other solutions besides, but all working on base of some community or a webserver needed or a special player or several different ports I cannot use.

So your small piece of SW is exactly what I was searching for.
Easy setup and only including what is really needed and nothing more to play than an Internetbrowser with Flash.

Thanks a lot, and keep going.
Great stuff -)
Conny
P.S. My feature-wish, maybe something like https for connecting (but I am afraid this is not to include as easy, most of the SW I found does not provide this)

Hi,
first my apologies to siit.
Because I just asked for help before thanking you for your work.
Ligth, easy to configure, easy to use...
A very usefull software.
So, thank you for allowing me to listen the music of my choice whent at work, thanks.
Second, mystic here is my configuration you will see if it could suit you.
My computer at home is behind a routeur on wich there is a SSH tunnel running on port 443. The computer hosting VibeStreamer is running on a port xxxxx only open with local firewall to my LAN.
So i use putty to connect to my SSH server, i make a tunnel redirecting outgoing request to my Vibestreamer, ie
I launch FireFox, type my url to connect to VibeStreamer ( 127.0.0.1xxxxx), and it' s working.
With this kind of patern you can make all your usefull stuff (RDP connection, using private proxy, using private mail server, etc...) on only one port. On few words everywhere like home.
Putty[/urlloyphm44] is a very ligth software that you can run from a USBkey.
Maybe it'll help you.

@ arghhhh

Thanks for your explanation.

Doing this with putty is common to me.
But their are 2 reasons I don`t do it this way.

1 I need 443 to point to another app running on my machine that allows me to access my external HDwith all my files from the Internet. For this purpose connecting via https is essential to me for security reasons, this app is having priority.

2 Where possible I want to avoid the need of any other tool like putty to be most flexible to get access.

When only needing a browser and https I am able to use my services at home from everywhere in the world regardless of what machine I am using.
InternetExplorer/firefox and port 443 are useable almost everywhere, whether this is an Internetcafe or somewhere else at any company.

However, when typing this there is coming something else in my mind.
Even vibestreamer allowing the use of https, .. I then would have 2 apps listening on the same port,..hmm,.. I will have to think about this in generally how to speak to 2 different apps with the same link in IE listening on the same port.

Maybe you are having any hint on this too -)

Thanks.
Conny

Hmmmm,
I'm not sure ( in fact i really believe ) that two applications can be run on the same port. (
