My music is storred on a network storage device (Buffalo linkstation). Works great on my desktop but my media streaming devices (pinnacle soundbridge) can see the playlists but not the music from the linkstation.
I think that WMP(11) doesn’t actually serve the files but rather provids the link and expecting the host device to serve the music. I think that VLC can serve music but I can’t make sense of how it uses playlists – I think it just serves everything in one dollop and not what I’m after.
Does Vibe actually read the music in then stream it forward or is it like WMP and simply pass on the link?

VS streams the mp3 data without re-encoding. Shoutcast/Icecast re-encode the data and stream them. VLC can stream with re-encoding or without, even possible to use Multicast broadcasting etc., but its a bit complicated with VLC.
