hi there..
this is my first post.. and let me first of all thank u for this amazing software... it jst rocks!! anyways... iv been using it quite often over the last couple of months to access my music remotely... the connections and streaming are top notch. I'm only facing this tertiary issue - whenever i'm streaming my music, there are quite a few files that aren't being displayed properely in the playlist. It's often to see the artist come up as "unknown". All my music is tagged properely with ID3v1 and ID3v2 updated to include artist info, album name, etc...
I have included a screen shot of one such case.
http//show.imagehosting.us/show/147255 ... 472558.JPG
I was streaming some music of "Dark Tranquillity" from their album Character. On the top of the screen, the song "Lost to Apathy" is properely resolved to be a Dark Tranquillity track, while the next track - "Mind Matters" also from the same artist is unresolved and shows - "unknown" in the artist column. I have included the file information for both files ... the tags are updated ...
Would be great if you could tell me what the issue is. Oh, and I have vibestreamer 2.05.
Once again, thanks for this brilliant software... !

Humm, very odd I must say. I'll see through the Id3 functionality before releasing the next version then, although I'm not really sure what the problem could be. hmm.,

anyways, be sure to upgrade to version 2.06. there's always something new added and fixed in each new version )

I am seeing the same for all of my tracks. ID-tags don`t seem to be read, for whatever reason, all artists are <unknown>.

Using NTFS and newest vibestreamer.

Example ID-information below
[img1v10zij6]http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/9100/id3oy2.jpg[/img1v10zij6][/url1v10zij6]

I also tested with artist/albums/title not containing any spaces, but see the same.
All my tags, filenames are in this way.
Windows Media Player for example is showing the tags correctly.

I will supply futher info/testing when wanted.

Greets.

very odd I say.. Hmm, I'll look into the library I'm using and see if there are any issues that I've missed.

First post as well - this is one AWESOME piece of software, perfect for what I want to use it for.

I see that mysticc has (or had) the same problem I do. Tracks with known good Artist tag info shows up as "unknown" artist. Has there been any solution or replication of this problem?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The reason for this problem is that the current version of Vibe Streamer is using the id3lib library for reading the id3 tags. It's a good library, but today it's a bit outdated..

At the moment while developing Vibe I'm still using id3lib because I haven't really had time to look for a better suited library. So I'd _really_ appreciate if anyone have any tips for another good c++ library that's a bit more up to date with the id3 standard. The important requirements though is that it has to be free to use in freeware software and it must also be portable.

All help is much appreciated.

Here you go

TagLib seems nice.

Now you have no excuses for releasing a new version P D

looks very nice indeed.. will play around with it and see if it's a good one, but just at first sight it seems to have a few nice features compared to id3lib.

same problem here. i got "unknow" in the artist field and the filename (with the extension too) in the track field.
if this could help, id3s are version 2.4 tagged with musicbrainz/itunes.

ps this is a great piece of software, really. but i'm gonna request some features, like the coverart support p

Hello,

I was having a tag issue for quite a while. Tried all kinds of tag editors and had very little success until I found Mp3tag, a freeware product, http//www.mp3tag.de, it is a very nice tag/name editor program. It wasn't so much the editor as it was the mpeg write format that was the problem. After experimenting with the settings, I found that in the options, you could select under Tags/Mpeg the write format for ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags and set it to ID3v2.4 UTF-8. I opened all of my MP3 files with Mp3tag (thousands of them) ) and just resaved them, no changes, just a save and viola! Vibestreamer displayed all my tag information perfectly.

Hope this helps anyone who has been similary frustrated.

This solution works. Well done.

Just a few problems occurred after saving all my MP3 files in ID3v2.4 UTF-8
[listfgqz4y4y]All the files lost their integrated coverart[/listufgqz4y4y]
[listfgqz4y4y]Windows XP Media Center Edition wasn't able to figure out who the artist of an album was anymore (no problem for the songs itself)[/listufgqz4y4y]

I resolved this by saving them again in UTF-16 and order mp3tag to save all folder.gif files also in the mp3's again. Consequently Vibes can't read the artist and title of the songs now anymore.

So it would still be nice if the next version of Vibes can handle ID3v2.4 in UTF-16.

I'm using Vibes for a few weeks now and it's just great! Thanks.

I had the same problem with the album covers.
SAM Broadcaster did not show the covers anymore.
This because SAM can't handle Id3v2.4 correctly.
Just use in mp3tag Id3v2.3 ISO-8859-1.
Vibe streamer shows the right tags and there is no problem with the album covers.
