Please Help with Connection Issue

I am looking for some help with connecting to my VS from the internet away from my home connection. I am not real advanced in networking so be gentle on my if you would please. I was wondering if someone could explain step by step in a simple to understand way.

I am usinga DLink DIR 625 router.
