Also having the continuous buffering problem

I'm also having the continuous buffering problem when trying to play mp3's. This occurs while the server is running on XP or Win2k. Also this is without any firewall or antivirus program, and while being accessed on a LAN. Any suggestions? I can put my URL if you need it for testing.

If you running it within a LAN, a known issue is that in some cases you need to use the netbios name when connecting to the computer that runs vibe streamer, and not the IP address.

Meaning, try out http//<YourComputersNetbiosName>8081 when connecting to your server..

Sorry that doesn't work either.

It seems that about 50 % of computers running Win XP (I have no experience on using Vibe Streamer with other operating systems) with Internet Explorer keep buffering forever when you try to stream songs. My server seems to be working fine as I can listen my music everywhere as long as I'm not using Internet Explorer. The security settings or firewalls don't seem to be the cause.

The good thing is that everything always works fine with FireFox and Opera, but not every computer has other browsers or rights to install new software (it's the situation I have had in my workplace). Now I've found a solution

One can use Portable FireFox (http//portableapps.com/apps/internet/b ... le_firefox) even without administrator privileges on every computer. The second problem, though, is that without administrator rights one can't install the Flash plugin that is needed to listen the MP3's. Luckily, it can be solved, too

"1. Install the plugin in a local copy of Firefox (on your hard drive)
2. Locate your plugins directory (usually C\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\)
3. Copy the plugin you need from there to your PortableFirefox\plugins directory (Some Examples For Flash, copy NPSWF32.dll... for Shockwave, copy np32dsw.dll) " (source http//portableapps.com/support/portabl ... ox#plugins)

So, you only have to find one computer in which to install Portable FireFox with Flash plugin. Then, you can take it with you in a USB stick and stream your music wherever you want.

Well, glad you got it working without using IE. Through technical aspects you _should_ be able to stream fine if you're able to connect to your server. There are no file sending differences between loading a gif image from the server or streaming a song, the difference is only in Macromedia Flash player that streams the songs that seem to in some rare cases not wanting to play songs. Mostly it's because a strange bug due to connecting to a server within the local network (which the solution is to use the NetBios name and not the IP address when connecting to the server), but also in many cases it is to all Mp3's being made with a not-so-great encoder. So there's no real bugfix to check out and all I can recommend is to try out firefox and see if it solves the problem.

I tried it in Opera on my LAN and it worked fine. Then I tried it from the internet and it keeps buffering using any browser. Even after moving the server into the DMZ from my router. Oh well.

Have you tried it from the internet from different computers at different locations?

Well I've gotten it to work on some outside locations, but not others. So that's a step in the right direction. Thank you for your help everyone. Please try my test site and let me know if any of you have any problems http//65.25.188.2288081 Username User Password password

I've always been able to connect to my server from outside networks as well as from my own network. With IE most of the computers keep buffering forever but _every_ of them work fine when Opera or FireFox is used.

Switching browser doesn't seem to be the solution for kanundra, but I know other people who have been experiencing the same problems with IE as I have.

Edit In IE's there have been the most recent Flash players installed, too.

I didn't change anything that I know of, but everything seems to work perfect, including in IE. Maybe I upgraded my flash...

Anyway thanks for a great product!!!
