Error reading track, but song still plays

I love this program, let me get that out of the way. )

Anyways, my only complaints are very few

Every couple songs I click on it says "Error loading track" and it adds that to the playlist, and when I click the "Error - Error loading track" song it plays the proper song that I just added, but this is not very useful if I have lots of "Error - Error loading track" songs. Also not very useful if I want to put these into a playlist. I thought it was odd since it still plays the correct song, just doesn't have any info in playlist. I also notice that it seems to flash the name of the song for a instant when I add the track, but it turns into "Error loading track" instantly.

Sometimes I've noticed song names with messages like [Buffering] get put into play list and stay there even though I KNOW its not buffering anymore. I don't seem to have any problem with all my songs playing, it is just the player that doesn't seem to like displaying info about my songs when I add them.

Only other issue, where is the log out button? I am trying to test with a couple users and its annoying having to delete cookies and everything to sign out.

Thanks!

My first guess is that it's a problem with the id3 tags in the songs, I'm gonna change that message to "could not load Id3 data" instead of "error loading track". but to be sure, could you try it out using a different browser than you're using now (what browser are you using now btw?)

the second question about the buffering text that gets into your playlist gets me very confused I must say. I've got no idea where that comes from to be honest.. hmm, again, what browser are you using?

as for the log out button I'm planning to try to add one to the next version of the standard skin. but until then I can inform you that if a user leaves the player or closes down the browser he will timeout after x number of seconds and be logged out (default 45 seconds i think).

I have been primarily using Firefox 1.5.0.4 to use Vibe Streamer.

I works most of the time. I probably do have some songs with bad ID3 tags, is it possible to have it just fallback to display the filename when the ID3 tag info isn't present? That would be perfect!

Humm, I was wrong in my last post. Actually vibe streamer displays the filename when it cannot access the Id3 tag. So this error for you is kinda strange. Do you have any special characters in your file names (non a-z, 1-9 etc..), do you have your shared file on a linux harddrive, external harddrive or another network drive? ... it seems that vibe streamer has problems accessing the files, although you say that it still can play them. That gets me kinda confused P

I have files shared on a network drive being mixed with files on the vibestreamer server PC. There doesn't seem to be any difference on what browser you go to, it still does the same thing for files both ON the pc, and via network share. I don't know what else to tell you. I suppose I could try trapping packets and see what happens or debug the JS on the page, but that all sounds like alot of work.

The file names don't have anything special in them either.

Hello,

I agree that this is a fantastic application. I wanted to add that I am having these exact same issues and am also in a similar situation - I have 30gigs of music on the same machine that VIBE is running on, and another 10gigs of music on another machine on the network. Some but not all tracks will load "Error - Error ..." 100% every time while others work fine all the time. So far I have only seen this for files that are shared over the network, but it's not happening for all files being shared over the network - many work just fine, often times mp3's in the same folder will be 50/50 split between correct display/error display. All the files play despite the error.

These machines are on seperate domains but are linked directly by a switch. Like I said, some files load titles fine and others just don't and I cannot find a pattern yet (in id3's, file names, network paths, etc.).

I too am getting this same error - "Error loading Track. File could not be found." However, the track plays.

I'm using IE6. The MP3 files are local to the server. It seems to be by subfolder - for many all tracks load, for others all tracks generate the error message.

File protection is the same for all.

I copied a folder that worked and one that didn't to another drive. The problem follows the mp3 file. I presume there is some malformed data within the file.
