DynDNS issue and TTL?

Posted this in another thread, but dont think anyone saw it, so made a new post about it )

I'm using DynDNS thats fowarded from a domain I bought. If I use either the domain I bought, OR the DynDNS domain, I can't get the folder list page to load. Just errors out. Most of the other frames load, however.

But when I use the straight IP address it works. I get the IP address from logging into DynDNS and just copy/pasting it into the URL with 8081 added.

DynDNS doesn't add another frame outside the frames of the streamer page AFAIK.

EDIT - is there a TTL or something similiar that would cause this problem, since it is being redirected essentially through three different IPs?

there are a couple of threads similar to this, but to sum it up, there should be no issues whether you use your ip address

http//xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx8081

or your dyndns address

http//myownaddress.dyndns.org8081

when connecting to Vibe Streamer.
DynDns is nothing else than a forwarding service and if it doesn't work when using your dyndns address I can't say what the problem is. Do you have other services on your server (such as FTP server) that you can try and see if you dyndns address works?

Also, make sure to set your vibe streamer server to listen to "all unassigned" ip addresses to make it easier for you.

Hopefully you figured out the solution by now, but I had a similar problem to this once. Here is what I figured out

When accessing my vibestreamer by the IP, everything worked great. When accessing it by the DynDNS, it was extremely slow and did not completely load. I found out it was the router's fault. I was using a new linksys WRT54G v5 router, which apparently was a cheap model that Linksys mass produced to provide cheaper routers for all those home users who wanted wireless access. It had a TERRIBLE firmware based on some buggy OS, not Linux as versions 4 and before used. They decreased the RAM size as well. What was the solution? Flash the firmware to use a third party OS like DD-WRT, or buy another router.

Here is a step-by-step if you have one of those routers
