Hi Phil, my router is a WRT54GL Wireles, and I've set Vibe Streamer at port 8081. Just not sure how to setup the Router[/quote22l345rv]
The first step is assigning a static IP address to the PC that is running the VibeStreamer server. This needs to be done so that we can tell the router where to direct traffic coming in on port 8081. This can be done under Control Panel > Network Connections > right-click and choose Properties on the network card connected to the router > Highlight Internet Protocal (TCP/IP) and click Properties > select Use the following IP address.
Now assuming you're using the default Linksys WRT54GL settings your router's IP should be 192.168.1.1. If this is true, use the IP address 192.168.1.2 for the VibeStreamer PC. Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway = 192.168.1.1. For the DNS servers you can use the ones provided by your ISP or you can use the OpenDNS servers 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. Click OK > OK. We've now completed giving the VibeStreamer PC a static IP address.
Now log into the router. Go to the Applications & Gaming tab > Port Range Forward > and fill in the following fields
Application VibeStreamer (you can choose whatever you want here)
Start 8081
End 8081
Protocol TCP
IP Address 192.168.1.2
Enable check
Now save settings and you now have a port forwarding rule to your VibeStreamer server.
Now when you connect to your server remotely you will want to enter you WAN IP address like (if you don't know you WAN IP you can go to a web site like http//www.ipchicken.com and it will tell you)
[code22l345rv]http://yourip:8081[/code22l345rv]
You should now be prompted for the user name and password.
If you get a dynamic IP address from your ISP (most common) I'd suggest using a free service like DynDNS to work with your router to keep a domain name associated with whatever IP address your ISP assigns you. May sound complicated, but it's not. If you want a how-to on how this is done let me know.
If your still having issues connecting at this point let me know what your ISP is, what type of modem you have, etc...

Thanks Phil for the info, I have a problem though, when I change the TCP/IP settings.... I loose my internet ?[/quote15uefkaj]
What is the IP address of your router? Also if you could open a command window (Start > Run > cmd > OK) and enter ipconfig/all and post the output.

In the menu of the router you should find an entry DHCP or DHCP reservation or something similar.[/quotexbrcbw09]
Static DHCP is not an option using the Linksys WRT54G default firmware. It can be done using freely available 3rd-party firmwares such as DD-WRT or Tomato.
Sorry for not getting back sooner mgmvibes. I was out of town on business.
So back to getting you set up. So you will want to give the PC running the VS server a static IP. This can be done by going into Control Panel > Network Connections > right-click on the Local Area Connection of the network card (NIC) being used and select Properties > Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties > Select Use the following IP address and enter the following
IP address 192.168.1.2
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway 192.168.1.1
Under DNS settings enter
Preferred DNS server 207.210.47.10
Alternate DNS server 207.210.47.40
Click OK, OK. Your VS PC now has a static IP address.
Now log into the router > go to Applications & Gaming tab > Port Range Forward and enter
Application can be anything, I put VS for mine
Start 8081 (this is the default VS port)
End 8081
Protocol TCP
IP Address 192.168.1.2
Enable make sure this is checked
Save settings. You have now forwarded port 8081 to the PC on your LAN with IP 192.168.1.2.
You should now be able to connect remotely to your VS server using your WAN IP address in the form of http//yourip8081
You might want to check out DynDNS which is free service that will allow you to tie a domain name to your router even if your ISP changes the IP address on you (DHCP). To find your WAN address you can use a web site like http//ipchicken.com
If you have any questions please ask.
