Problem from inside the network and browser issue

Ok, so, I've been trying to get computers within my network to connect to vibe streamer and it seems to not be working. I'll send them the internal ip address from my router 192.168.X.XXX and then i'll add the port number XXXX and they will just get an error screen when using Internet Explorer.

Using Firefox, they don't seem to have this issue. But when one of the computers I tried to connect using firefox, it connected but wouldn't show the songs. I then tried to give them the external address 73.XXX.XXX.XXX.XX and I still can't get the songs to show up under firefox. I can see them on my computer with firefox and others have connected from outside our network using firefox and can see them, but I'm not sure what else to do.

On a more personal note, I would like to say this program is one of my favorites and I applaud whoever came up with the ideal, design, program, and layout. I'll be adding your site to my message board to tell everyone about it.

did you give them the whole adress like http//192.168.XX.XXXXXX ?
it aint workin without http// ... And do you have any firewall on your vibe streamer machine? if so open the vibe streamer port.

Ok, adding the http thing to the browser let me log in with internet explorer, but why would the songs not show up when I was using the external ip on firefox? the 73.XXX.XXX.XX8081 Just curious if there is a way to attempt to open that up for them.. Thanks again for the great product and for the support!

You would need to open the necessary ports in your router. This would allow and extrernal conection to enter your local network and connect to Vibe Stream. Without the rule, everyone attempting to connect to port 8081 is blocked.

I've opened the port 8081 on my router/firewall before I posted the question... If it was blocked shouldn't they be completely unable to view anything? They can see the program GUI but can't see the songs... I then log in under the accounts that can't see it and can't even see the songs from my own computer... I'm assuming it's me setting up certain accounts differently and doing something wrong...

Thanks for the support! wink

I've figured it out! In the sharing folder, I forgot to add them to the folders that I was sharing. Sorry about the confusion. Thanks!
