Alright, I've been meaning to set up a music server ever since I read about Vibe Streamer in PC Mag. Today, I got my friend's laptop, put all my music on it, got Vibe Streamer running. It works on my LAN but I want it to work outside of my connection. I've been trying to get it to work with my friend. I added his IP as an exception but no go. I know my local connection plus port won't work for him. I tried his 72.*.*.* and his 192.168.*.* address. Neither work. I don't have a domain, so that's a no go
help is much obliged and the obligatory great program comment )

Try to do like I´m doing it.....

I got an virtual webadress via [url1he8fl5u]http://www.no-ip.com/[/url1he8fl5u]
and use their program to always stay updated with my IP-number even if it´s changed.

The URL for the Vibe Server will be like http/whatever.whatever.com8081.

You don't need a domain for vibestreamer to work. just use your WAN ip address to connect at your friends home (http//xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx8081)
I think your problem is that the router blocks incoming connections to 8081.
Check out your firewall settings in your router's administration panel.

But....the IP-number will change now and then if you don´t have a static IP.

But as said above you can always use the IP shown on tab "Settings" in Vibe Server Program

Yes you are right. If you have a dynamic ip you need to use a dynamic DNS service, so you don't have to re-communicate your IP-address everytime it changes.
But I think this has nothing to do with the problem of the TS. It looks like his router doesn't allow incoming connections on port 8081. Maybe he's running a software firewall as well, which is blocking communication.
If your problem is not firewall related, just reply and we'll help you further.

i can forward into LAN at the address 192.168.1.129, thats all perfect.
I get a static server of type user.domain.nu but i think that my problem is with my router.
When i get into my external address via web using the 192.168.1.129, I get redirected into my router configuration web, it´s ok to config my router preferences from my office, but i want to stream some music from my local computer.
I´ve tried to stream via my router ip 82.220.XX.XX8081 but the Vibe Stream software announce me that "webserver could not be started (could not bind socket to 82.220.XX.XX...)
I think that i´ve configured my Router NAT settings Ok for this software
Protocol TCP/UDP
External/Internal Port 8081
Server IP Adress 192.168.1.129
And I set up the NAT Port Triggering Setup (What i Don´t know the meaning) into the same configuration
Triggering
Protocol TCP/UDP
Port Range 8081-8081
Open
Protocol TCP/UDP
Port Range8081-8081

Could anybody help me!! I´ve tried all the ways to stream my music to all my friends but I cant.
Sorry for my English, I must practice a little bit more.

First , in vibestream settings set ip to unassigned..

then select a port, 8081 should work just fine

then run the server...

Try testing your server from a different network and different internet connection.

that is, run the server on your computer on your network, then go to someone else's house or ask a friend on his internet connection to try connecting to your server, using your external IP address and port.., that is on the computer running your server, goto http//www.whatismyip.org/ and find out what your external IP is, then go to your friends computer on a different Internet connection, and login to that IP you found and see if it works..

It will probably work
