Constant Refreshing

Could someone tell me what the point of refreshing every 10 seconds is? On my home computer I don't have a sound scheme, but on my girlfriends computer you hear a click everytime the page is refreshed. This is annoying when you hear a click about 40 times per song. Is there anyway I can keep it from refreshing so often or make it only refresh on command?

Version 2.05

Fixed
- Removed the "click" sound that came every 10 seconds in the standard skin if you had a sound scheme active in windows.

Should be fixxed. If not update.

Heyas, the point of refreshing is made in order to keep you from timing out from the server. The click should have been removed but you still get it? The click sound is because you're using a sound profile in windows (most people turn this off and doesn't get disturbed by it).

Could you please tell me what OS and browser you are using? If this isn't 100% fixed yet I want to solve it as soon as possible and add a solution on the forum so people that might get the same problem can fix it.

Also, make sure you have the newest version of Vibe Streamer (2.06)

Hmm, damn it. After testing out I now know the following

In the 2.06 release I made a fix for the timeout issue. But as the same time that fix caused the click that I fixed in the 2.05 issue to come back, doh.

Anyways. I'll add a quick-fix for those folks that need it on the forum soon, just need to try some stuff out so I know I get it perfect this time, sorry folks. Luckily it's not many people that gets bothered by it since most doesn't use the Windows default sound scheme.

Ok, I've been testing this for a few days and it seems to be working fine so before I'm putting it in the official version I thought I could make it a small hotfix that people using version 2.06 can fix themselves.

So before making an own thread for this, try this out and see if it fixes your problem. Other people (even if you don't have this problem with the "clicking" sound can try out this modification aswell if you want since it most likely will be in the next version anyways).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

INSTRUCTIONS
Please not that if you're not sure about the modification you're doing, take a backup of the file before editing it so you can restore any changes you've made.

* Make sure the Vibe Streamer application isn't running.

* Open the "update.vibe" file in the standard skin folder using notepad or any other text/code editor. You can find that file in the 'skins/standard skin' folder below the folder where you installed Vibe Streamer.

* Replace the line in the JavaScript function 'refresh()' that sais

window.location.href = 'update.vibe?foo=1';

with the line

window.location.reload(true);

* Save the file and start your server.

* Clear the cache in your browser and proceed as usual.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyways, try this out and please report to me on how it went.

I edited the update file and I still get this reloading/refreshing issue. I'm running Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise edition.

[b3mqwp6x5]SOLVED[/b3mqwp6x5][/size3mqwp6x5]

Anytime you refresh a page, you will get this "[b3mqwp6x5]Click[/b3mqwp6x5]" sound. This is
coming from the sound scheme in Windows on whatever system
you are listening to your Vibe Server from. Granted this can be
fixed several ways, but the easiest way is just to remove the sound
from your sound scheme on the PC you're listening on.

For those of you who don't care about the "[b3mqwp6x5]Click[/b3mqwp6x5]" sound when
broswing around and clicking on weblinks, here's how to remove it...

Go to your Control Panel and double click the
"[b3mqwp6x5]Sounds and Audio Devices[/b3mqwp6x5]" icon. Click on the "[b3mqwp6x5]Sounds[/b3mqwp6x5]" tab and
then choose the "[b3mqwp6x5]Start Navigation[/b3mqwp6x5]" option, and from the drop down
below that says "[b3mqwp6x5]Sounds[/b3mqwp6x5]", choose "[b3mqwp6x5]None[/b3mqwp6x5]". Click [b3mqwp6x5]OK[/b3mqwp6x5] and that's all!
No more clicking noise whenever the page refreshes!!!
