[Solved] Song/File keeps buffering

Hello.
I just installed and tried VibeStreamer.
Very good idea, easy to handle, looks good...
I set it up, put some songs in a directory, shared it and also created some groups/users.
When I browse to the specified IPport (within my network), VibeStreamer comes up, I choose a song and click "play".
It starts buffering... and never stops.
I never hear a tone, it just keeps telling me "buffering".
VibeStreamer Server tells me, that the user is connected and is streaming song "xy".
What's the fault ?
Have I missed something ?
I altered the port from 8081 to 80, but the same problem appears.
It would be great, if someone could give me a hint.
Thank you in advance and greetings from Offenburg

Do you have the latest version of Flash installed? (just a thought)
This is a strange thing I've noticed on some computers if you're within the local network but connect using the external IP address. Try connecting to the server using the internal IP address or the NetBios name and I'm pretty sure it will work for you.
For example
http//YourComputersNetBiosName8081

I'll try in that order NetBios name then, if no sollution Flash 9
I'll report on monday.
Have a nice weekend.

Hello.
Thank you for the hint(s).
I tried it with the NetBios-Name and it works.
Strange, but what the heck... It works.

Yea this is quite strange. I have the same issue myself if I try it out on a local network. Hopefully it's something I'll find a solution for in the future.

Wait, I'm not that big of a noob, but I guess this makes me one...whats your NetBiosName? I got my IP from whatsmyip.com, used that, tacked on 8081 at the end, and login....then it just buffers forever. It can't be a firewall or port problem, can it, cuz I AM connected to it and viewing all the files.
I got the latest flash version too, so thats not it either

its like "mypc" or what your pc is named on the local network..
like http//mypc6060 . Only works inside your network.
right-click "my computer" on your desktop and select "properties". In the "system properties" window that shows up go to the "network identification" tab (the second one from the left).. there is you "full computer name". This is the netbios name that your computer has..

so what if i want to turn the server on, go to work, and listen to my music at home, through my web browser at work? thats what i tried, and it just buffers and nothing plays. it works 100% at home, and I had 2 friends try it out last night (before i went to work) and it worked fine for them.
Check out the sticky thread about connecting "externally" to your server in the support forum. Some people has problems getting this running due to firewalls, routers and much more. I'd recommend you to check this out, aswell I'd like you to make sure you have the latest version of Macromedia Flash at work.

gr. I have the latest macromedia flash, no firewall on my windows whatsoever, and I opened portts 8081 and 80, and it doesn't work with either of them from outside my network. -_-

what good is this program if it doesnt work outside of you LAN?
its stillll buffering the entire time, after I opened my port, for all of my IP addresses from my router.
Try disabling your router and your firewall entirely and try out for a second. I'm pretty sure it's a firewall/router messing up in either end. Also, try out from other computers outside your network, not just a single workstation, try out from a friend or two and see if you get the same problem.

Hi all,
I'm having the "infinite buffering" problem reported by just one of five people I had test my Vibe Streamer installation, so I'd say the server is configured correctly.
However, even though the title of this topic says "Solved", I fail to see what should be changed at the problematic PC, and also couldn't find the sticky thread siit has mentioned (none of the four stickies seem to address this). Is it upgrading Flash, or something else?
Could somebody please summarize the solution/workaround in brief, or provide a link to the relevant post?
Regards (and many thanks for this great program!),
Pavle
// edit I've checked, it's not related to Flash version, and it doesn't seem to be browser-related
//edit 2 actually, switching to Portable Firefox solved the problem - I'm still interested if there's a workaround if it doesn't work in IE, other than changing the browser?

I am having the same problem... what I noticed was that when I see the buffering message that doesnt go away, eventually, after a few minutes, the full MP3 exists in the temp internet files on the pc. This doesnt seem to be correct, since it should be streamed and not saved to the hard drive. The other thing I noticed was that some songs work, others do not. Is there something about the files that may cause issues with the streaming? It seems that certain songs always work, and other songs consistently do not work. I haven't looked into the songs to see what may be causing the issues... I will have to compare one that works to one that doesnt.

Actually, I think that having the file in the Temp Files folder is normal behavior - that's where the program buffers it. Apart from that, I'm still in the dark on how to solve this problem, for now I'm just telling my friends to try a different browser if they want to listen to my music.
