Hi,

I am trying to access my music on my Nokia N80, I can connect ok and see the music folders, but I cant click the folders to open them to see the music, is this a restriction of the N80 web browser and if so is this something that you can work on to resolve because I think there are many N80 users out there that would really like this software.

Thanks

Does N80 handle JavaScript and Flash?

The N80 has flash light (not sure what the difference is against the full version of flash),

Not sure about javascript, is there anyway I can check ?

But the N80 is a pretty cool phone, especially the wifi and the web browser and screen are amazing, so I would get one anyway if I was you, especially if you like gadgets, but the battery is pretty crap, lasts about 24 hours, although there are 3rd party extended batteries that last longer

I just noticed alo that the player doesn't load, I guess this may be a limitation of the flash light perhaps.

Well lets say it this way. The N80 can most likely handle Java, so it's definately possible to create a Java skin for Vibe Streamer. Although it's a bit hard to develop without actually testing it all the time on a N80. So buy me one and I'll promise to make one D

Nah, but seriously, anything is possible. The easiest solution would be to create a webinterface like the standard skin works. But it totally depends on how capable Macromedia flash is to be honest. Can't you try browsing around some on the web and googling for "MP3 flash player" and see if any of the existing flash players on websites works on the nokia.

If that works I'll put up a page with some JavaScript that you can access and we'll see how well it handles it.

If it _is_ possible to make a skin this way, I'd say this is another one that's gonna be part of the upcoming 'simple skin'. We need to get ahold of some PSP and PDA users before we make the design though.

Yea it has Jave, I just found it

Ok, I am not too technically minded, although I can pretty much work with things and figure out how they work with some help, so I am happy to spend a little time on this with your help if you are happy to do this and hopefullly can find a solution.

If you want to email me with anything that you may feel will help me then I will try on my N80. My email is kevdav100@gmail.com

after doing a little reading I see that the N80 at the moment has flash lite 1.1 and I am not sure if this has the ability to do what is needed, flash lite 2 is available, but not for the N80 at the moment ( . Unless of course you know differently

My question is this, is there another way to stream the media to the N80.

Yep, If siit (or someone else) codes a java client to the N80. Java works on a lot of cellphones today.. but im not sure if there is any standard for mobile java apps...

So you mean a small application that installs on the phone that I would use to access the files on my computer, or a web based java application that I can access through the phones browser

Im not a cellphone or coding expert, but i suppose a good coder could make a Vibe Streamer-java-app that works on several Nokia phones...

This is much possible. As for the "simple" skin we're planning I don't think it will be made in Java. I'm pretty much focused on the server bit at the moment and I really don't have time to also begin developing an entire Java media player that streams through the Vibe server.

Although, well, if there are people interested in a Java project I wouldn't complain if they took a peek on the Java Mobile edition and checked if this is possible.

I'm guessing that flash lite 2 will hopefully solve some of the problems but the N80 isn't supported yet, I will have to wait until it is (if it ever will be)
