Trying to use a different port

I'm trying to set up Vibe Streamer to run on port 2053. I've set my router and software firewall to forward port 2053 to my internal IP and entered 2053 in the port field under the settings tab in Vibe Streamer. I left the "IP address" field as "(All Unassigned)".

I just can't seem to make this work. I've tried it with my software firewall turned off, still no luck.

I can make the connection fine using port 8081 from inside my network and from at least one other computer outside my internal network, I just can't make 2053 work. I want to try 2053 because I think my office network disables outgoing traffic on 8081.

If you think your office blocks 8081 they sure will block 2053 aswell.. its not a standard port... try and run Vibe Streamer on port 80 instead. thats the standard web port.

Yes run it on port 80, if not that try port 443 which is the SSL port.

Ok, I'll try port 80. The problem is that I can't get anything but 8081 to work from anywhere, including inside my own network with my frewall turned off. I have tried forwarding several ports.

8081 continues to work even after I THINK I've switched Vibe Streamer over to 2053 (or whatever). Maybe I'm not setting the port correctly in Vibe Streamer? Under the "settings" tab I change the port field, and that's all. Is that right?

yep thats all you have to change in vibestreamer... and port forward that port in the router to your computer.

I figured it out. Apparently I'm not that bright. I wasn't stopping and restarting the server after changing the port setting. So of course Vibe was continuing to chug along happily on 8081.

I'm specifying the port and forwarding through my router without any problems now. Thanks for the help.
