MP3 @ 16kbits/s, Mono, VBR

I have large amount of radio-recorded MP3, sampled at 12 KHz, compressed to reach 16 kbits/s, mono, VBR. When being played back by VibeStreamer, the sample rate is clearly wrong, most probably doubled ... these files I've been using for years and are played back correctly on any player (PC or portable) I know. Any hint how to check / correct ?

Macromedia Flash has issues playing some mp3 encode formats. This isn't anything I can do anything about and it's just wait and hope that Macromedia/Adobe fixes this..
