Can I stream from any storage location?

Hi,
I'm quite ignorant on these matters and I really haven't understood how this software works.
I have songs stored on my Dropbox account. Can I possibly stream it from there? Or any other storage location of the same kind?
Any other options for an average computer user like me who doesn't really know anything about servers?
